MAT Promo Video
This is a promo video I was part of creating in my Advanced Studio class at MiraCosta College. My role on this team was originally project manager, but ended up doing the creative directing as well as helping with postproduction editing. As the project manager I kept in communication with the client, in this case was the Media, Arts, and Technology department at MiraCosta. I also coordinated the interviews with the faculty and the student testimonials. We first edited the footage in Premiere Pro sifting through over a half hour of speaking dialog to break it down to get it within the desired 1-3 minute length in total. The video was well received and I am thankful to the rest of my team that helped make this video happen.
Cinematic Intro
This project was intended to take a piece of ordinary footage which I found on Pexels.com posted by CottnonBro Studios. I took the original Footage into After Effects and the first thing I did was slow it down by 25%. I then Added multiple layers with the effect Turbulent Noise and adjusted each effect layer in the evolution transform tool with 'wiggle' expressions in order to give variations of dust and scratches on the film, also adding grain to give it the authentic film look. I then added a custom vignette which I created with a couple of rectangles and a mask, I added expressions to the Roughen Edges of the vignette, along with adding a Gaussian blur effect to create more dirt and grime on the film. Lastly I added Posterize Time and turned the frame rate down to 12fps.
How to video
For this video I needed to shoot and edit my own how to video. Using motion graphics, camera movement, different angles, transitions, and music to convey they point of the video and this is "How to watch Cartoons." I edited this After Effects and in Premiere Pro.
Rotoscope
For this video I needed to explore rotoscoping, The background footage is of a camera filming a walk in the woods. I added and adjusted multiple effects to achieve the end result. The zombie is of a zombie breakdancing that I pulled from a separate video and rotoscoped. I then added my Frankenfont letterforms and gave them a Glossy effect, and Embossed effect to give it that stain glass look.
Animated song lyrics
This was a project that was for my motion graphics class. The goal was animate speaking lines of a movie clip or video, or animate the lyrics to a song. I thought it was a fun idea to use a mash up I like. I took the music from the song 'Yeah' by Usher, but performed in the style of Metallica by Anthony Vincent. I then took clips of the original music video and synced it to the music in After Effects. The goal was to Animate 10 lines, but I was having so much fun doing this project I ended up animating over 70 lines and utilized different effects and different variation of the effects on each line so that no 2 lines are animated the same.
Generative Ai Aliens with rotoscope, and masking
The idea here was to take this footage of my professor and add Ai elements to the scene. I first had to take a the first frame into Photoshop in order to mask off the foreground with the Aliens in the front so the subject walking would pass behind the aliens. I then added the crashed spaceship on the first frame and took the video into After Effects to rotoscope the subject out and work details of the edges on the rotoscope to make it look as clean as possible. With the subject rotoscope I was able to get the subject to walk in front of and behind the different Ai elements that were added to the scene.
